World Health Organization Reports that Global Death Toll Increased by 1000 in Past Week
by Mareena Turner

The World Health Organization (WHO) has reported a huge increase in the global death rate from H1N1-related illness. The total number of deaths from the swine flu virus has now reached close to eight thousand. According to the WHO, more than half of the reported fatalities were from the Americas. Mutations in the virus have contributed to the death toll.

Antiviral-resistant strains of the swine flu

A recently discovered strain of the swine flu has been found to be resistant to the antiviral medication Tamiflu, also known as oseltamivir. Individual cases have been located around the world, which has led health authorities to conclude that the mutation is not transmitting, but is spontaneously mutating in each individual case.

Acute respiratory distress as a result of swine flu mutation

A strain of the swine flu that was isolated by the Mill Hill labs in the UK causes acute respiratory symptoms. This virus attaches to surface tension cells in the lungs, causing hemorrhaging in the lung tissues.
